Jessica B. Avery

Jessica B. Avery is a partner in the Newport Beach office, where she leads the firm's Tort and Products Liability Group. Her practice focuses on product liability litigation, business and insurance defense, and general civil litigation. She defends domestic and international corporations against claims involving personal injury, contract disputes, construction defects, and business torts.

For more than a decade, Mrs. Avery has served as national discovery counsel to domestic and international companies that design, manufacture, and distribute products. She develops, manages, and coordinates complex discovery strategy for national and foreign clients, including motor vehicle manufacturers, designers, distributors, suppliers, and financing entities in both state and federal courts.

Mrs. Avery has proven highly effective at coordinating national and international discovery strategy, managing large-scale records retention and complex document collection, planning discovery and handling document production, and resolving discovery disputes across jurisdictions.

Mrs. Avery represents clients in litigation throughout the United States. She is skilled at maintaining consistent positions and defensible approaches at every stage of a case and among all cases nationally, protecting confidential business information and trade secrets while reducing risk in litigation outcomes. The discovery strategies she has built have helped clients resolve key issues, garner excellent case outcomes, and reduce exposure in jurisdictions across the country.

Mrs. Avery earned her Bachelor of Arts with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also studied British history and literature at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England. She received her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California, which she attended on a full academic scholarship. While there, she was Chief Articles Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles International & Comparative Law Review. She also served as a judicial extern to Justice Thomas Willhite of the California Court of Appeal.

Mrs. Avery is admitted to practice in the State of California, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. She is a member of the Orange County Bar Association.
